Independence day

Happy Fourth of July!  Wow!  That means summer is already half over!!

We started out the festivities Sunday night with a trip to the Colorado National Golf Club to watch our town's fireworks.  My aunt and uncle from Indiana were visiting this week and arrived just in time for us to drag them out for a late night!

I never ceases to amaze me what a great job our little town does each year on the fireworks.  I used to go to the lake front to watch the BIG display in Chicago and these seriously rival those.  Seriously!

Quinn's had enough.
Quinn did great!  He was enthralled with the lights - until the finale started.  Then it got a little too noisy.  Getting home was an adventure - took "the girl car" almost an hour to get out of the cul-de-sac where we'd parked.  They men, on the other hand, parked farther away but were home in 20 minutes.  Oh well!

Monday we hosted a barbeque with Mike's parents, brother and my aunt/uncle.  Fajitas, gazpacho, guacamole and fruit salad.

While the adults were cooking, the kids (and dads!) enjoyed a water fight courtesy of Uncle Larry.

Quinn hung out inside doing his best Yankee Doodle Dandy (also courtesy Uncle Larry!)

After dinner it was time for some fireworks.  Much to Caleb's dismay, there were no REAL explosives, but they still had fun - and made a ton of noise and mess.

The aftermath of a fun day - major hat hair!
